There were new faces on the team in 1971. Roster changes were inevitable and the future was uncertain. So the Senators’ marketing department elected to go with a rather generic collection of players on the program cover illustration. The player top left may have been a nod to newcomer Curt Flood, His tenure with the team lasted less than a month, but the program cover was in play from Opening Day until the team’s chaotic finale in Washington on September 30, 1971.
