My Banner Day: Go Senators!
Part of my clever banner on display at a party on the eve of Super Bowl VII (January 1973).
There it was! My banner on the front page of the sports section of The Washington Star, April 8, 1977. I was famous!
The second, unsuccessful attempt at media exposure for one of my homemade banners came nine months before Opening Day 1977 at the 1976 All-Star Game. From a lofty seat in the front row of section 616, high above the field at Philadelphia’s Veterans Stadium, I could see my “WASHINGTON SENATORS FAN CLUB…” banner in the distance. By the third inning, it was gone!
